Patty Hearst, the Symbionese Liberation Army and today's left

Yesterday I watched PBS' documentary on the kidnapping of Patty Hearst by the SLA. It was typical of PBS - probably biased in ways of which I am not aware due to my unfamiliarity with the events in question. One item struck me - the language of the SLA. The Symbionese Liberation Army was a violent group of marxist terrorists who murdered public officials and innocent bystanders as part of their revolution. They were well armed, well trained and ruthless.

SLA would make tapes and deliver them to the media for public distribution. In these tapes, they would promise to liberate the "concentration camps in fascist America." Their sentences would string together pejorative references to corporations, media, government, the rich, etc.

After hearing this, I was struck by the similarity to today's moonbats, with their run-on sentence accusations of "fascism", "Halliburton", "Fox News" etc., strung together with little coherence or logic.

That one SLA member was named "Mizmoon" only adds to the irony.

Can Howard Dean account for his whereabouts on the day Patty Hearst was kidnapped?

That the SLA could turn a previously apolitical 19 year old heiress into a violent moonbat in less than 60 days indicates that most parents of college students are wasting their money by paying for the final 3.5 years of "study."
